Daniel Phillips Claims Maiden ATP Victory
Tennis player Daniel Phillips has made his mark on the professional circuit after claiming his maiden ATP Tour victory at the M15 Kayseri tournament in Turkey.
Phillips, who helped Bermuda secure promotion in the Davis Cup World Cup group two play-offs in Costa Rica, defeating Jamaica 2-1, competed in the qualifying rounds against Russia’s Venedikt Tsirikidze, the eleventh seed.
The Bermudian won in straight sets, 7-6, 7-6.
He has advanced to the second round of the qualifiers, where he will meet Georgian Aleksandre Shvangiradze.
The M15 Kayseri event is part of the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour.
